ABOUT CAMP

At NORTH SHORE HOLIDAY HOUSE, up to fifty-five campers per session reside in cabins on our beautiful grounds in Huntington, NY. Here, they develop self-confidence, independence and teamwork skills. Programs include the promotion of environmental awareness, cultural arts and physical fitness in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

Each summer, over two-hundred girls make new friends while participating in a variety of exciting activities. Campers between the ages of 7 and 11 can choose from one of our three, two-week sessions and campers between the ages of 12 and 15 can choose between our two, five day sessions.

Our goal is to expose our campers to a wide range of programs and activities to increase cultural awareness, develop an appreciation for diversity and to promote mental, physical and social growth. We teach our girls to value themselves and develop a sense of self-worth.

Campers learn about different cultures through music, dance styles and artistic techniques and participate in nature programs, STEM activities, mindfulness and sports based activities. The opportunity to swim every day is available. For safety purposes, each camper is swim-tested on the first day of camp by a Water Safety Instructor to determine their swim level. Our pool is always supervised by American Red Cross certified Lifeguards and a dedicated Nurse or EMT is available on-site 24/7.

A typical camp day includes an assortment of activities including: arts and crafts, dance, drama, music, nature, sports, Girl Power and more. Camp activities are led by counselors who have experience in these areas. Carnival Day is a hit with our campers, offering a fun-filled day of water activities, face painting and music. A highlight of every camp day is the evening program, a time where all campers come together to participate in a event.

We are fortunate enough to hire both domestic and international counselors who attend all activities and provide constant and consistent care. Counselors undertake a one-week training period in preperation for camp and are trained in areas such as First Aid and CPR, safeguarding and child protection. Campers learn about the cultures of counselors who have traveled from various countries including but not limited to, England, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland, Colombia, Turkey, South Africa, Germany, Spain and Hungary. Our counselors share the fabric of their culture with the campers through play, song and cultural traditions. The small size of our camp affords the girls the personal attention of the counselors and staff in a nurturing atmosphere.
